Young Farmer is taking the reins at his family's dairy farm

Frazer Wyatt, 21 is a director with his parents on the family's 200-acre dairy farm in South Wales. The farm milks a herd of 130 Holstein-Friesians alongside 150 youngstock in Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire.

Over the last 12-months there have been huge changes to the breeding strategy at Pencnwc Farm. "We are now looking for a stronger, smaller statured cow with less emphasis on the Holstein type. In terms of traits when selecting a sire, strength and longevity are important to us" says Frazer.
He has used a selection of sires including Wintersell Milo, Mr Rubi-Agronaut, EDG Rubicon, TW Goodwhone and Eniskillen Engineer. "Our Milo daughters are by far my favourite on the farm! We now have a few milking and I couldn't be happier, they have got great temperaments and fantastic rear udders!" says Frazer.

Pencnwc Farm are currently on an all-year-round calving block and are achieving a conception rate of 50%. The farm has now started using SexedULTRA 4M on both cows and heifers and they have seen great results. "I am using SexedULTRA 4M on the cows with confidence and it is working very well. In my farming histroy, we will have more heifer calves from 4M than we have ever had before from cows and heifers" Frazer adds.
